["Fugitive Pursuit" - Christa Sinclair]

[I definitely enjoyed this!]

While I have been a Harlequin Intrigue reader for almost 20 years (started in 2000) – this is my first introduction to the Love Inspired Suspense genre. And, as the title indicates, it is the Suspense version of the Love Inspired series. Think of Harlequin Intrigue with Christian themes.

With that in mind, and it being about police/bounty hunters – I knew I would love this book. Which is why I was trying to win it in the author’s contest. To be honest, it is pretty hard to find on Amazon.

“Fugitive Pursuit” is about Jamie Carter who is convinced that her sister’s death was at the hands of the sheriff – Drew Timmins, who happened to be married to Jamie’s sister Erin.

But, proving it is tricky for Jamie – she’s a fugitive herself.

Jamie is not only on the run, but desperate to find evidence to put the sheriff away. She’s also trying to keep her niece, Erin’s daughter with Drew, safe.

There is also another complication – Zach Owen, a bounty hunter.

His job is simple – bring Jamie in as he is legally obligated to do. But, there’s something about her story that causes him to want to protect her. And, after a few skirmishes with the sheriff’s “hit men”, Zach and Jamie go on the run.

This starts off with action from chapter one and doesn’t let up until the end, and I mean almost-the-very-end. There is a bit of a mystery involved.

Slight spoiler: the key piece of evidence is practically in plain sight.

Zach struggled between doing the legal thing and what, in this case, was the right thing. His strong ties with his family also showed in that he didn’t want to risk their reputations or safety.

Engaging, heart-breaking, and at times heart-tugging; this book was a fun read (and ride). I really hated putting it down. And, I hope the author revisits these characters again. I’d love to read more of the Owen family bounty hunters. It reminded me, in a way, of Dog the Bounty Hunter TV series from the A & E days.

I would say fans of that show, or readers who enjoy bounty hunter romances, will enjoy this book.

“Fugitive Pursuit” is Sinclair’s debut book

With regard to this line of books from Harlequin? I’m completely hooked! Love it.
